Joint naval exercises of the Russian and Chinese navies were held in the western part of the Arabian Sea, Russian defense ministry reported.

From the Russian side, the training maneuvers were attended by ships of the Pacific Fleet: the missile cruiser Varyag, the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Tributs and the large sea tanker Boris Butoma. The Chinese Navy was represented by the missile destroyer Urumqi and the complex supply ship Taihu.
