On January 25 the parliamentary Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport initiated parliamentary hearings on amendments to the law on general education.

Sisak Gabrielyan, chairman of the committee, an MP from the ruling Civili Contract Party, reminded that the National Assembly approved the draft law on General Education in the first reading only a month ago. "The changes are enormous and affect a wide range of issues," the deputy said.

According to him, about 130 citizens wished to attend today's hearing, including school directors, teachers, deputies, experts, representatives of public organizations and many others.

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan introduced the project.
