Saudi Arabia has canceled an unofficial ban on the import of Turkish goods imposed four years ago, Al-Khaleej Online reported.

The ban reduced Turkish exports to Saudi Arabia from $2.7 billion in 2018 to $189 million in 2021.

The move comes ahead of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's planned visit to Saudi Arabia next month.

Last month, Erdogan announced his plan to visit Saudi Arabia in February. He said he would discuss Turkish exports to the kingdom with Saudi officials during his visit. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia's exports to Turkey reached $3 billion in the first 11 months of 2021, despite Saudi Arabia's ban on Turkish goods.

Last week, Turkey canceled its ban on prominent Saudi and Emirati media outlets, including the Al Arabiya TV channel and the Okaz newspaper.
