Inflation was recorded in Armenia due to the embargo on Turkish goods. Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan stated about this Thursday during the press briefing after the Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government.

According to him, in the short run, Armenia’s decision to ban Turkish goods in the country had negative consequences, as goods imported from other countries are more expensive.

Keropyan added that there are expectations that the impact should be positive in the long run.

"But the [Armenian] government is a collegial body, and it has made a different decision," the minister reminded.

He said that there are no figures yet in connection with the planned construction of a railway between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"The cost of the [respective] research could be several million. When the time comes, we will make those expenses," the Armenian minister of economy concluded.
