At least three rockets hit the area of Baghdad International Airport and an adjacent military base that houses US advisers, damaging a derelict commercial aircraft but causing no injuries, AP reported with reference to Iraqi officials.

Iraqi Airways, the country's main carrier, said one of the decommissioned aircraft parked near the airport was damaged in the attack, but operations are proceeding as normal and no delays are expected.

The US-led coalition formally ended its combat mission of supporting Iraqi forces in the ongoing fight against the Islamic State group last month. Some 2,500 troops will remain in the country as the coalition moves to an advisory mission to continue supporting Iraqi forces.
