President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko jokingly called himself a dictator and failed to reveal the essence of the Belarusian democracy. He said this during a message to the people, broadcasted on YouTube.
One of those present at the event asked Lukashenko to explain how he understands democracy the Belarusian way. "I'm a dictator, it's hard for me to understand democracy," Lukashenko said.
The head of state added that he didn't see democracy the way it is seen in the "free world and a stronghold of democracy - the United States," and noted that there were no generally accepted standards for it.
