During their on Friday, the Presidents of Ukraine and France, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Emmanuel Macron, discussed the work of the Normandy Format (Germany, Russia, Ukraine, and France), as well as the intensification of the work of the Trilateral Contact Group to resolve the situation in eastern Ukraine (Donbas). The website of the Office of the President of Ukraine noted about this in a statement.

"The heads of state welcomed the intensification of the work of the Normandy Format. The parties agreed to maintain the current dynamic pace and speed up the next meeting of the advisers to the leaders of the countries participating in the Normandy Format. The importance of intensifying the work of the Trilateral Contact Group and its subgroups to make rapid progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements was also discussed," the statement also said.

Zelenskyy noted the personal contribution of the French leader in organizing the meeting of the participants of the Normandy Format, and, also, thanked his French counterpart for supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Ukrainian president stressed the need for meetings and talks as long as "there is a favorable atmosphere for dialogue."

"As long as diplomatic efforts continue, the likelihood of further escalation decreases," added Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
