In the case of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, one should not rely on the natural immunity acquired as a result of having been previously contracted COVID-19, according to the Ministry of Health of Armenia.

"If you had COVID-19, it doesn't matter, get vaccinated! Laboratory tests clearly show that recovery from the COVID-19 infection does not provide a level of protection that the immune system can prevent further infection.

Cases of re-infection are also possible. So, the best way to be protected from the infection and the potentially severe course of the disease is to get vaccinated [against the coronavirus]," the Ministry of Health of Armenia added.
