Ukraine has expressed its intention to purchase new unmanned aerial vehicles from Turkey, head of the Public Relations Department of the Presidential Administration of Turkey, Fahrettin Altun, told Bloomberg on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Ukraine.

The volume of trade between Ukraine and Turkey last year increased by 59%, reaching $7.1 billion. The defense industry is one of the areas in which progress has been made in the relationship. To date, Ukraine has purchased 12 Turkish UAVs and also expressed its intention to purchase new devices at the level of the Chief of the General Staff, the official said.

In January, Turkey signed the first contract for the export of Bayraktar Akinci combat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Baykar Makina, the engines for which, as previously stated in Kiev, Ukraine will supply. However, to date, it has not been specified with which country this contract has been concluded.

On November 12, 2021, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba announced that two companies in the country - the Ivchenko-progress state enterprise and the Motor Sich enterprise - signed contracts for the supply of engines for Turkish UAVs.
