In a YouTube podcast by Lex Friedman, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said that sending humans to Mars could cost $1 trillion under the current conditions.

Musk also revealed that he wants to build self-sustaining colony cities using underground hydroponic farms. They will run on solar energy.

According to Musk, in this way his company will be able to provide all the conditions for growing crops and providing people with food.

The billionaire plans to land people on Mars within 5-10 years. Now the company is looking for ways to reduce the cost of shipping colonists and cargo to another planet.
