French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the release of eight Armenians from Azerbaijani captivity.

Eight Armenian prisoners have been released by Azerbaijan and taken from Baku to Yerevan. They found their families, from whom they had been separated for many months, the President of the French Republic wrote on his Facebook page, said former French Ambassador to Armenia Jonathan Lacotte.

The return of the prisoners became possible following a remote meeting held on February 4, mediated by French President Emmanuel Macron and President of the European Council Charles Michel.
