The G7 countries rejected Moscow's demand to pay for energy imports from Russia in rubles, said German Energy Minister Robert Habeck, AP reported.

According to him, all G7 ministers fully agree that this would be a unilateral and clear violation of existing contracts.

Habeck said that payments in rubles are unacceptable and we will urge the affected companies not to comply with the demand of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, speaking about whether Russia could cut natural gas supplies to European consumers if they rejected the requirement to pay in rubles, said that we are clearly not going to supply gas for free.
