YEREVAN. – The Yerevan court hearing on the criminal case against second President Robert Kocharyan and former deputy prime minister Armen Gevorgyan—who is now an MP of the opposition “Armenia” Faction in the National Assembly of Armenia—will reconvene Tuesday.

At the last session, the court did not allow Gevorgyan to ask questions of interest about the charge against him. As a sign of protest, his defense attorney Lusine Sahakyan left the courtroom. And presiding Judge Anna Danibekyan imposed a penalty—in the form of a fine of 50,000 drams (approx. US$103).

Along the lines of the abovementioned criminal case, Robert Kocharyan and Armen Gevorgyan are charged with taking bribes—and based on the respective testimony of businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan.
