Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has called on State Duma MP Mikhail Delyagin to control his personal emotions and not make unfriendly statements against Azerbaijan, TASS reports.

"This is a statement based on the level of personal emotions. We urge to control these emotions and refrain from making such statements, especially towards our partners Azerbaijan," Peskov said, commenting on Delyagin's statement on the possibility of striking at Azerbaijan's oil infrastructure amid escalating tension in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh).

On the air of Russian television, State Duma lawmaker Mikhail Delyagin had called to severely and unequivocally punish Azerbaijan for its actions in Nagorno-Karabakh and for disobeying the Russian peacekeepers there.

According to Delyagin, there is a danger of an attack from Azerbaijan, as the latter has violated the ceasefire in Artsakh.

"Our Ministry of Defense announced that they had withdrawn, whereas Baku officially announces that it is not leaving the occupied territories. Therefore, there is a real danger from Turkey, or rather from the Turkish proxy [i.e., Azerbaijan]. It must be punished severely and unequivocally. Why do we need Azerbaijan's oil industry? We do not need it. If people do not understand with words, we will probably have to make understand with action. If we do not do that, we will not be," the aforementioned Russian MP had said.
