Second President Robert Kocharyan's lawyer Aram Orbelyan left the courtroom as a sign of protest against the actions of presiding Judge Anna Danibekyan at Tuesday’s Yerevan court hearing on the criminal case against Kocharyan and former deputy prime minister Armen Gevorgyan—who is now an MP of the opposition “Armenia” Faction in the National Assembly of Armenia.

From the beginning of the court session, the lawyer asked to hear his motion which, Orbelyan is sure, will stop the trial. However, the judge first established the order of examining the evidence, and then Gevorgyan's petition was heard.

Subsequently, the judge was going to announce a recess and only then consider the aforesaid motion. But the judge's actions infuriated Orbelyan.

The lawyer asked the court to consider his motion, after which he would leave the courtroom.

The presiding judge left for the deliberation room to make her decision on the Orbelyan's action.
