Japan's Nissan Motor Corporation announced on Monday that it has developed an integrated automatic system that allows the car to avoid collisions with other cars, pedestrians and other obstacles. Its creation is expected to be completed by the middle of this decade, and by 2030, almost all Nissan brand products will be equipped with this device, the company said.

At the corporation's test site in the city of Yokosuka, journalists were shown on Monday how a car equipped with the new system independently left another car moving towards it and, after rebuilding, immediately avoided a collision with a mannequin that suddenly appeared, imitating a passerby. To do this, sensors are used that allow you to capture all objects around the car and notice obstacles at a distance of 300 m. Work is currently underway to miniaturize such devices and reduce their cost.

The new system should be a critical component of a fully self-driving vehicle, Nissan explains. Similar developments are underway in other companies. Honda Motor, for example, is creating an artificial intelligence system that will notify the driver in advance of emerging threats and obstacles, taking into account his individual characteristics. Its implementation is planned for the second half of the 2020s.
