Tbilisi celebrated the holiday of roses - "Vardaton". Every year on the last Sunday of May, Tbilisi celebrates Sayat-Nova Memorial Day, Jnews reported.

According to a tradition established over a century ago, Georgian Armenians marched from Hovhannes Tumanyan's house to the Sayat-Nova monument, laid roses, and then headed to the Saint Gevorg Church, paying tribute to the undying memory of the outstanding ashugh.

The first "Vardaton" was celebrated in 1914 on the initiative of Hovhannes Tumanyan and artist Gevorg Bashinjaghyan. Then it became a tradition.
