YEREVAN. – Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan on Thursday attended the opening of the 67th Meeting—in Yerevan—of the  World Tourism Organization  (UNWTO) Commission for Europe.

The event was also attended by UNWTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili, the Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Greece Sofia Zacharaki, and several others, the office of deputy PM Matevosyan informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his remarks at the event, Matevosyan noted, in particular, that the Armenian government is vigilantly following the events unrolling and the programs being implemented in the tourism sector.

According to the deputy premier of Armenia, the coronavirus that challenged the whole world in 2020 was not only a deep health crisis, but also a severe challenge for the world economy. "As a result of the pandemic, tourism is also one of the most affected sectors in Armenia. However, also due to the flexible state policy being pursued in the sphere, the tourism sector in the country is on the way to recovery," the deputy PM emphasized.
