Patent licensing company K. Mirza LLC has filed a lawsuit against Samsung, reports Android Central. The statement says that the Korean tech giant stole the function of determining the remaining battery life.

The lawsuit, filed on May 20, alleges that a feature preinstalled in the Android OS was actually developed by the Dutch research institute Nederlandse Organisatie voor Toegepast Natuurwetenschappelijk Onderzoek (TNO).

The prediction is based on algorithms that analyze user behavior. Estimates of remaining charge based on analysis of user behavior are more accurate than predictions based on tests during device development, the plaintiff said in a statement.

However, in addition to Samsung, battery analysis technology is also used in Xiaomi devices and Google Pixel series smartphones. However, the lawsuit says it is aimed at devices running earlier versions of Android. Thus, K. Mirza LLC has no complaints about gadgets running new versions of Android.
