Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after talks with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu that the implementation of the agreement with Turkey on Idlib in Syria was slow, RIA Novosti reported.

He noted that Moscow is closely cooperating with Ankara on the Syrian issue.

"Repeatedly at the meetings of Presidents Erdogan and Putin, concrete agreements were concluded, including the memorandum of 19, which Mevlut now mentioned. There was also a memorandum that dealt with the need to resolve the problem in the Idlib de-escalation zone. In both cases, of course, the agreements reached in these important documents are slowly being implemented," Lavrov said.

The minister added that the sides share the goals set there.

"We understand perfectly well the concerns of our friends about the threats posed on their borders by external forces, including by feeding separatist sentiments on the illegally controlled U.S. units in Syria," Lavrov added.

He said Moscow was also not dramatizing the slow progress in the constitutional committee talks in Geneva.
