Turkey expects Russia and the U.S. to implement the agreements reached earlier with Ankara to cleanse Syria of terrorists, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Wednesday.

His remarks came at a news conference in Ankara following talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, TASS reported.

"We stand for the continuation of the Astana process on Syria. We believe it is necessary to liberate the Kurdish population from the terrorists who are present in the north of the country. Western countries, especially the US, are supporting these terrorist elements in northern Syria. We expect both the U.S. and Russia to implement the agreements to clear these regions of terrorists," he said.
