Pavel Rassadin, Counselor at the Russian embassy in Syria, accompanied by Habibulhaq Javed, Head of Syria Office of the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), visited the Darayya District of Damascus Governorate to inspect the UNMAS explosive ordnance disposal program being implemented by the Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise of Armenia.

Russia is among the donors supporting the launch of the pilot demining program, the Center informed NEWS.am.

During the program which started in December 2021, the teams have cleared about 413,730 square meters, mainly agricultural area, and found 265 units of explosives. The ultimate goal of this project is to clear 1 million square meters of agricultural land.

Also, the guests visited the work site and got acquainted with the works and methods on the spot.
