A 108-year-old U.S. resident who celebrated her next birthday has revealed the secret of her longevity, Hawaii News Now reported.

Beatrice Chieko Muranaka of Honolulu, Hawaii, celebrated her birthday on 14 June. The woman was born in the Wahiawa area, but her family moved to the city when she was five years old. Muranaka had worked as a nanny all her life and even met her husband while looking after the children in the family, where her future chosen one delivered groceries.

The woman gave the reasons for her longevity to her 46-year-old granddaughter, Erin Furuya. She said that she always walked a lot and ate fruit after every breakfast. But she also liked to treat herself to chocolates, bacon and coffee.

Furuya also said that when her grandfather was alive, she and her grandmother drove everywhere but after his death 30 years ago, Muranaka started a very active lifestyle and walked everywhere.

Her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to congratulate her and threw a holiday party for the longtime resident.
