At its Cabinet meeting Thursday, the government of Armenia approved the proposal to sign a development cooperation grant agreement with the United States.

The explanation of this decision states that the aforesaid agreement is expected be signed between the Armenian government and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and that this agreement aims to assist Armenia in the reform process aimed at strengthening democracy and economic stability in the country.

The total USAID contribution to these goals is $120 million, which will be disbursed in two tranches: $68,565,000 to promote democracy, and $51,435,000 to improve economic security in Armenia.

With this document, the US is undertaking a commitment to assisting Armenia in establishing effective and accountable governance, maintaining democratic achievements, and overcoming economic challenges.
