Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Armenia  Victor Richter.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of relations with Germany, which is the biggest trade and economic partner of Armenia among EU countries. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that high level of political dialogue will contribute to further mutually beneficial cooperation.

Ambassador Richter noted that Germany is interested in the development of cooperation with Armenia and reaffirms its support to democratic reforms in Armenia.

The interlocutors discussed the perspectives of deepening of the Armenian-German relations. Expressing satisfaction with the projects implemented in the frames of bilateral agenda, Nikol Pashinyan mentioned that the sphere of intensive agriculture is promising. The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany welcomed the Prime Minister's proposal and touched upon the joint programs in the spheres of SMEs, energy, water management, e-government, finance and others. The activities of GIZ and KfW in Armenia were highlighted bilaterally.

During the meeting the sides also touched upon the regional developments and the works on unblocking of communication links. The sides exchanged views on the situation over Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Armenian Prime Minister presented Armenia's positions on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the peace agenda declared by the Armenian government. Nikol Pashinyan said that the Nagorno-Karabakh status remains unresolved and should be settled within the framework of the internationally recognized format, which is the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship. The Prime Minister touched upon the return of Armenian prisoners of war, hostages and other people still held in Azerbaijan, as well as the protection and preservation of Armenian cultural and historical heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Richter expressed the support of the German government to the peace agenda in the region and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia highlighted the importance of a targeted response of the progressive international community to humanitarian and security issues.
