A Nigerian politician has been charged with allegedly preparing a plan to harvest children's organs in Britain, PA MEDIA reported.

Ike Ekweremadu, 60, a county senator and attorney, along with a second defendant, Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55, were charged with conspiring to organize and/or facilitate the travel of another person for the purpose of exploitation.

They are scheduled to appear in Uxbridge Magistrate Court on Thursday, Metropolitan Police said.

The child, whose age is unknown, was taken into custody.

Organ harvesting involves the removal of body parts, often for commercial gain and against the will of the victim.

The politician recently became a visiting professor at Lincoln University.

“Visiting professors are often, as is in this case, non-resident at the university, unpaid and advisory. We are deeply concerned about the nature of these allegations but as this is an active police investigation, we cannot comment further at this stage,” the university press office said.
