Former US President Donald Trump has been cleared of contempt in the New York court, CNN reports, citing the judge's decision.

New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron said he reviewed documents Trump submitted and the attorney general's office agreed that the conditions to purge his contempt had been met.

According to the judge's decision, the $110,000 paid by the former head of the White House will be kept in an escrow account until the end of his appeal process.

Earlier, a New York court found Trump guilty of contempt of court. The court also ordered him to pay $10,000 a day for refusing to submit documents as part of an investigation into alleged crimes by his Trump Organization.
