US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that on behalf of the US authorities, he congratulates the new Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid on taking office, according to the State Department website.

According to him, Washington expects the continuation of the American-Israeli partnership and cooperation, despite the change of the head of government in Tel Aviv.

Israel has no better friend than the United States, and our commitment to Israel's security remains unwavering, he said.

At the same time, Blinken separately thanked former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett for strengthening interaction between Washington and Tel Aviv during his work. As the head of the State Department noted, the connection between the United States and Israel has never been stronger.
