YEREVAN. – A delegation led by Svenja Schulze, the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, and which has arrived in Armenia on a two-day visit, on Thursday visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan, the Ministry of Economy of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Schulze laid a wreath at the monument commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide. Subsequently, the members of the delegation placed flowers at the Eternal Flame, and observed a minute of silence in memory of the 1.5 million innocent victims of this tragedy.

Also, the delegation learned about the history of the three cross-stones installed at the Armenian Genocide Memorial area, are dedicated to the Armenians who died during the ethnic cleansing of the Armenian population in Azerbaijan at the end of the last century.

In addition, the delegation visited the memorial wall on the back of which are interred the remains of foreign figures and missionaries who had protested against the Armenian Genocide carried out by the Turkish government.
