Any Turkish military operation in northern Syria will lead to instability and insecurity in the region, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said at a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart, Mehr reports.

Amir Abdollahian noted that any intervention of foreign forces in the region is wrong, and this will lead to the aggravation of the situation in the region.

"We will stand by Syria with all our might in its fight against terrorism," said Amir Abdollahian, adding that the Iranian-Syrian relations are strategic.

"We are against any military action against Syria," the Iranian Foreign Minister added, confirming Iran's readiness to provide any plan to resolve the political crisis in Syria.

Iran has never left its friends alone and will never leave them alone, he also stressed.

Amir Abdollahian arrived in Damascus on Saturday to meet and negotiate with senior Syrian officials.

Upon arrival at Damascus airport, the Iranian Foreign Minister was met by his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad.

During this visit to neighboring Syria, Amir Abdollahian attended a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad in Damascus on Saturday.
