Kazakhstan is ready to use its hydrocarbon potential to stabilize the situation on the world and European markets, said President of the Republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a phone talk with the President of the European Council Charles Michel.

“The President also called on the European Union to cooperate in the development of alternative transcontinental corridors, including the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also expressed concern about the threats to energy security in the world. Kazakhstan, according to him, is ready to use its hydrocarbon potential in order to stabilize the situation in the world and European markets,” the statement says.

Tokayev also reminded Michel that Kazakhstan was the first country in Central Asia to sign an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the European Union, which brought relations between Kazakhstan and the EU "to a new level."

"Our country is committed to developing sustainable ties with the EU, Kazakhstan's largest trading partner," the statement says.
