The Latvian parliament has approved in the final reading amendments to the Law on Energy, which provides for the ban on natural gas supplies from Russia to Latvia from 1 January 2023.

Also, a regulation was approved for specific cases in coordination with the regulatory institutions of another European Union (EU) member state to ensure the prohibition of natural gas supply from Russia, Delfi reported.

This regulation on agreements with regulatory authorities of another EU member state will be applied in cases when the Latvian operator of a unified natural gas transportation and storage system - Conexus Baltic Grid JSC - has agreed with the corresponding operator of another EU member state to establish a unified natural gas transportation system.
