Lilit Makunts, the Armenian Ambassador to the United States, on Thursday met with Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA), informed the Embassy of Armenia to the United States.

During the meeting with Senator Van Hollen, Makunts presented Armenia's position on regional developments.

Also, she reflected on the humanitarian issues after the 44-day Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war in the fall of 2020, and emphasized the importance of the returning of Armenian prisoners of war and other civilians detained in Azerbaijan.

Joint efforts aimed at further enhancement of Armenian-American relations were discussed with Congresswoman Lee.

In addition, Ambassador Makunts handed the Mkhitar Gosh State Award to these two US legislators on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Armenia and the United States and for their significant contribution to the development of Armenian-American relations.
