The Italian parliament finally approved a bill to ratify the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO.

The Senate voted 202 to 13 in favor of the bill, a day after the lower house overwhelmingly approved it.

The accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO must be ratified by the parliaments of all 30 members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization before the countries can be protected by NATO's defense clause, which states that an attack on one member is an attack on all.
