European Union member states should act in a coordinated manner when it comes to limiting visas for Russian tourists, Anitta Hipper, spokesperson of the European Commission, reports EFE.
According to her, Brussels wants to facilitate a coordinated response to the issue and to this end is negotiating at the political and technical level with member states. Hipper said their main goal is to ensure that any measures taken are coordinated and promote European principles, once again recalling that the issuance of visas in humanitarian cases must be protected throughout the EU.
She said the issue will be discussed at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Prague on August 30-31.
She said European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ilva Johansson will travel to Finland and Latvia in early September to discuss measures with national authorities and carefully examine the situation.
