Bitcoin fell sharply in trading on August 19 at $21.4 thousand, according to data from CoinDesk.

The decline in quotations over the past 24 hours amounted to nine percent, which was the worst result for the world's largest cryptocurrency in the past two months.

The fall in value occurred against the background of the recent report of the Federal Reserve on the US economy, which contained a negative outlook on the future of the national economy and the growth of prices, as well as the announcement of a further increase in the prime rate.

At the same time, the price of the world's second most capitalized cryptocurrency - Ethereum. Its quotes for the day fell by 9.09 percent, reaching the level of $1707.28.
