It is not the people, but the political leaders that should be blamed for what is happening today, Meruzhan Ter-Gulanyan, former deputy of the Supreme Council of Armenia, said at a symbolic "session" on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the Declaration of Independence today.

"What do political parties do? They set petty party goals and don't go beyond that," he noted. Ter-Gulanyan called for less talk and more action. "If words are not followed by deeds, why do they accuse people?" asked the former deputy.

He reminded that the current authorities came and immediately destroyed everything related to Armenians (Armenian history, Armenian language, Armenian literature, desecrated the Armenian Apostolic Church) in order to turn the people into a herd and make it easier to rule them. "Due to the policies of the current authorities, we have lost our sense of homeland, all that is left is to destroy the state. Before Armenia is finally destroyed and becomes a Turkish vilayet, this grouping (of the authorities - ed.) must leave. We are losing our statehood," Meruzhan Ter-Gulanyan added.
