Chinese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Fan Yong is on a working visit to Syunik province. The diplomat was received by Syunik Deputy Governor Hayk Harutyunyan and the head of the Syunik province administration today.

The Ambassador, who is visiting the region for the first time, mentioned that the goal of his visit is to discuss how to find the borders of cooperation between China and Syunik province. "Syunik is an area of importance for the Republic of Armenia, in recent years mining products have the highest percentage in the trade turnover between our two countries, and it is exported mainly from Syunik," Yong said, adding that this is not the only area in which to cooperate, new areas should also be found. In this regard, the embassy is also ready to send investors from their country to Syunik, the press service of the Syunik province administration told NEWS.am.

In his turn, Hayk Harutyunyan said that the ambassador's visit to Syunik is becoming more and more important in this difficult period and the historical friendship between Armenia and the People's Republic of China is the basis of the 30-year-long diplomatic relations.

The regional authorities presented the high-ranking diplomat the main directions in which Syunik can cooperate with the Chinese side.

In the course of the meeting, looking into the opportunities for Syunik development in the context of Armenian-Chinese relations, a number of spheres and issues were discussed, particularly education, tourism, road construction, launching other infrastructures, twin towns' institutions, local self-government, export of local products, etc.

It is noted that the main topic of the meeting was the exchange of ideas on the interaction. In the future, the sides will take practical steps to deepen the cooperation with narrower professional groups.
