Chief of the RA Armed Forces General Staff-First Deputy Minister of Defense, Major General Edvard Asryan received U.S. Embassy Chargé d'affaires ad interim, Vice-Ambassador Chip Laitinen and the embassy's Military Attaché, Colonel Gregory Pipes.

Chip Laitinen congratulated Edvard Asryan on his appointment as Chief of Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces and wished him effective and productive work, according to the Armenian Defense Ministry's Press Service.

In the course of the meeting, the sides touched upon the Armenian-American military cooperation in the fields of military medicine, peacekeeping and military education.

At the requests of Chip Laitinen and Gregory Pipes, the Armenian Chief of Staff presented the operational situation and recent developments on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, in the Lachin corridor and in Artsakh.
