The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) called on the Afghan authorities to ensure the security of diplomatic missions after the explosion at the Russian embassy in Kabul, the UN mission said on Twitter.

The organization expressed its condolences to the families of those killed in the attack: 

At least 8 people have been killed in an explosion outside the Russian embassy in Kabul, Al Jazeera reports. At least 15 more people were injured of varying severity.

Among the dead were two employees of the Russian diplomatic mission.
