High economic growth usually leads to high inflation. But this year we have high inflation, not only because of high economic growth, but also because of the increase in global prices, as well as high consumption caused by additional people who came to Armenia. We have high inflation because of those three factors. Minister of economy Vahan Kerobyan told this to reporters in the National Assembly Wednesday.

"As you know, high economic growth usually benefits one class of society, whereas high inflation hits another class, the vulnerable class first. The work of the government should be aimed at distributing the economic benefit equally among all. And that is why, as soon as we saw an opportunity to increase pensions and benefits, we did it. We hope that the poverty level [in Armenia] will not increase at the end of the year, and one of the most important directions of our work is to ensure that the number of poor people in Armenia is reduced, that people can live a prosperous life so that we realize that our work has improved people's lives," added the minister of economy.
