The Armenian Television and Radio Commission violates the country's legislation and prevents independent media from broadcasting, said Levon Sultanyan, Deputy Director of the Second Armenian TV Channel (H2), at a press conference in Yerevan today.

Thus, according to the CTR decision, H2 was deprived of its right to terrestrial broadcasting on the territory of the republic within the framework of the public multiplex.

According to Sultanyan, the television company went through three court instances. The latter ruled that the deprivation of the television channel's license was illegal.

"That is, the frequency should have been given to us, but the commission made a completely different decision. In my opinion, this was done intentionally so that there wouldn't be an independent TV channel that would objectively cover the processes taking place in the country," said the representative of the TV channel.

He also said that the TV company intends to participate in all tenders for providing broadcasting in the capital and republican multiplexes.

"These tenders must be held, because courts of different instances made such a decision. We change the program for the better every time and participate in the tenders. This is what makes the commission go for new violations of the law, not allowing us to air," Sultanyan stressed.
