The opposition "Armenia" Faction of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia on Friday issued a statement informing that it will continue to not participate in the sessions of the NA and its commissions. The statement reads as follows, in particular:

"The track-record of the one-year parliamentary activity has shown that the executive power and its parliamentary majority attachment, violating the Constitution and laws, disrupt the normal work of the National Assembly.

Ignoring the most serious threats to security, the current authorities are imposing on the National Assembly agendas unrelated to the immediate threats to Armenia and Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)]. (...).

Under these circumstances, in the fight against the parliamentary majority operating with unlawfulness, we will continue to use the tool of political boycott accepted in international practice. That is, we will not participate in the NA and its commissions’ sessions, which are not primary and often full of artificial agendas.

The [‘Armenia’] Faction, through its representatives, will continue active contacts and work with our partners abroad and accredited diplomatic missions in Armenia, as well as evaluating their usefulness and effectiveness, will participate in international meetings to protect the interests of our country, raise and condemn the crimes committed against the Armenian people.

At the same time, we will continue to carry out active activities outside the NA (…)."
