Taliban spokesman Bilal Karimi disagreed with U.N. accusations that Afghan female staffers are being harassed by the Taliban.

No female U.N. staff members have faced any problems, and none have been detained. A group of women in Kandahar were demanded to explain themselves, when it was revealed that they were UN female staff members, officials relented and no incidents occurred, Karimi said.

According to him, UN information about harassment is not true.

Earlier, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) was concerned about cases of harassment of Afghan female UN workers by security officials of the Taliban, who control the country.
