Large police forces have been concentrated near the building of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia since early Thursday morning.

They have formed a human wall armed with shields and blocked the road leading to the NA side entrance. It is assumed that this ensures the unhindered entry of MPs to the legislature building.

Numerous people are expected to hold a protest outside the NA today demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

On Wednesday, many people had blocked the Marshal Baghramyan Avenue across the NA main entrance and were protesting, demanding Pashinyan's resignation.

People started to gather near the parliament building today as well.

Opposition MP Aram Vardevanyan had stated that the opposition "Armenia" and "With Honor" Factions of the NA signed the demand for Pashinyan's impeachment, and that 18 MPs from the ruling majority “Civil Contract” Faction also must sign this demand in order for this process to begin.

Yesterday, spontaneous rallies with the same demand were held also in Gyumri, Stepanakert, and outside the embassy of Armenia in the US.

The session of the National Assembly shall continue today.
