An extended consultation of the Security Council of Armenia was held Thursday under the leadership of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister's Office informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In addition to the members of the Security Council, President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) President Arayik Harutyunyan, Armenia National Assembly (NA) speaker Alen Simonyan, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office Arayik Harutyunyan, NA vice-speaker Ruben Rubinyan, and NA ruling majority "Civil Contract" Faction leader Hayk Konjoryan also attended this consultation.

The current situation as a result of Azerbaijan's military aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia was discussed, as well as the steps to be taken to protect Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Thoughts were exchanged also on the current state of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.

In addition, the imperative of Armenian national solidarity and unity was emphasized in the context of confronting external threats.
