Russia will welcome steps leading to the normalization of the situation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said when commenting on U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Yerevan, RIA Novosti reported.

"Anything that can contribute to normalization of relations and stabilization of the situation on the border not in words but in deeds, not in a loud and populist way but in real quiet and business-like manner, all this can be welcomed. Can such loud actions and statements actually contribute to this normalization? We'll see in time and it will all become clear," Peskov told reporters when asked how the Kremlin assesses Pelosi's visit to Armenia and whether this trip can help resolve the conflict with Azerbaijan.

Pelosi is on a September 17-19 visit to Armenia, where she is meeting with high-ranking officials, including Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
