CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas, who is in Armenia at the head of the Organization's mission, met with Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahe Gevorgyan, CSTO Press Secretary Vladimir Zaynetdinov reported.

Zas and Gevorgyan discussed the current situation and the joint measures of political and diplomatic nature aimed at reducing tension in the region.

CSTO mission headed by CSTO Secretary General arrived in Armenia in accordance with the decision of the extraordinary meeting of CSTO Collective Security Council on September 13. The mission is composed of representatives of the CSTO member states, who are members of the Organization's working bodies.

The mission is tasked to assess the current situation, prepare a detailed report to the heads of the CSTO member states on the situation in the region and develop proposals to de-escalate the tension in certain areas on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
