Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said on NTV that the country does not recognize the results of the ongoing referendums on the accession of several regions to Russia.

"Whatever our position on Crimea used to be, we do not recognize the referendum decision that Russia wants to adopt. We recognize Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity," he said.

Kalin noted that Turkey supports Ukraine in this conflict and is the only country that "seeks to end the war."

The authorities of the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics, as well as the administrations of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, decided to hold referendums on becoming part of Russia. Voting will take place from September 23 to 27.
