On September 23, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Peacebuilding Rosemary DiCarlo in New York, thepress service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

Mirzoyan presented the situation as a result of the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia.  The Armenian Foreign Minister deemed inadmissible the numerous violations of international humanitarian law and military crimes committed by the Azerbaijani military forces, stressing that they must be assessed appropriately.

Mirzoyan noted the need for targeted and clear condemnation of the aggressor by the international community, noting that the indirect response paves the way for new Azerbaijani aggressions. From this point of view, the Armenian side stressed the importance of targeted assessments made during the urgent meeting of the UN Security Council.

They exchanged views on possible mechanisms to increase the UN involvement in order to establish stability in the South Caucasus.

Mirzoyan and DiCarlo also discussed Armenia-UN cooperation agenda and the democratic reforms taking place in Armenia.
